Purificacion Francia Aquino passed in peace on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at her home in Ridgewood, NY. “Puring,” as she was affectionately known, was 100 years old.
Puring was born in Bayambang, Pangasinan, Philippines on February 3, 1921. She graduated from Baguio General Hospital School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science degree. In the town of Damortis, La Union, she began her job as a nurse attending to wounded Filipino soldiers during World War II. There, she met Dr. Mariano L. Aquino whom she married in December of 1945 and were together for 66 glorious years before Dr. Aquino’s passing in December of 2011.
She is survived by their nine children, their respective spouses, grandchildren, and one sister who resides in the Philippines.
Her sweet and quiet disposition, kind smile and presence will truly be missed. She is now reunited with her loving husband and a son with our Lord in Heaven.
Visitation will be held on November 28, Sunday from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at N F Walker of Queens Funeral Home, 8734 80th St., Woodhaven, NY 11421.
Funeral Mass will be on Monday, November 29, 10:30am at St. Aloysius Church, 382 Onderdonk Ave. Queens, NY. Followed by Interment at Mount St. Mary Cemetery.
