Hector Cruz Laroco

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Hector Laroco, 62, of Belleville, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, May 15th, 2021 at Clara Maass Medical  Center. Hector was born in Manila, Philippines. He moved to the United States with his family 20 years ago and had  been a resident of Belleville, New Jersey ever since. Being a kind and loving husband, father and grandfather was of  the utmost importance to Hector, who was also known to many as ‘Popsie’. He certainly did not disappoint when it  came to wholeheartedly loving his family. He was very artistic and would usually do art work for others. He was known to be a "Jack of all trades" and the life of a party especially when he was younger. He made furniture in his  family home in the Philippines. He made everyone smile and laugh everywhere he went. He also loved his garden  and he was always excited during spring and summer when he planted vegetables and flowers. Recently, he was  putting together a bonsai landscape design. 

Hector is survived by his wife, Jocelyn Laroco, his daughter, Joliza Laroco Pucci and husband Thomas Pucci Jr., 2  sons, Alden and Carl Laroco and grandchildren Brian, Sam and T.J. He was the brother-in-law of Josephine and  John Cerdan; and Joseph and Rochelle Zarate; He was an uncle to Andrea and Elijah Cerdan; Francesca DeJesus  and husband Remus; and children Yani and Zai; Claudine and children Jiro and Sophia; and Camille Zarate He was  the ‘balae’ of Michele and Thomas Pucci Sr. He was also survived by his brothers, Bernard, Luis and Jesus Jr.; and  his sisters, Lilia Benavides and husband Romy Benavides; and Josephine Moral; and many nieces and nephews. He  was preceded in passing by his parents Jesus and Leonora Laroco and parent-in-laws Jose and Erlinda Zarate. 

Cremation is private. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 22nd at 9:00 AM EDT followed by a mass  at 10:00 AM EDT, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church*, 120 Prospect St. Nutley, NJ 07110. The family will stream  the memorial service virtually via Zoom for those who are unable to join in-person.
