Arthur James Rupel, 74 of West Orange, New Jersey who died peacefully on June 7, 2020. He was born on January 13, 1946 in Spanish Harlem, New York City. He was a member of The New York Society of Ethical Culture, Philosophical Forum, Montclair Socrates Cafe and PAFCOM. He was an avid supporter of Audubon Society, New York Botanical Garden and Doctors without Border.
Arthur was an avid reader and well versed on local international issues, had a wide variety of interests like the "new" classical physics: Chaos Theory, Cellular Automata, Philosophy, History, Literature, Music, Art, Poetry and Parrots.
He received his MS Mechanical Engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology and M.A., Physics from Hunter College of the City University of New York. He was with U.S. Army Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), Picatinny Arsenal, NJ for 35 year and retired as Physicist and Mechanical Engineer.
Arthur was married with Rosalinda Medina Rupel for 33 years, son from previous marriage, Daniel Rupel, stepchildren Ian Dexter, Belinda Iris and Illya, Sister, Eileen Rupel from Virginia and his miniature cockatoo: Sassaparilla.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Zuasola-Grillo Filipino Funeral Service, 44 Bay Ave., Bloomfield, NJ. Private Cremation will take place at Rosedale Crematory.
